Empowering a new generation of leaders

In 1920, The College of Saint Rose was founded by members of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, who wanted to open up higher education opportunities to women. It was a visionary step, as 1920 was the same year women throughout the United States finally won the fight for suffrage.

91̽ became fully co-educational in 1969, and it has since become a place for women and men of all backgrounds to find opportunity through higher education. But we have not forgotten that with a lingering pay gap, gains made but still miles to go in women’s governmental representation, and the necessity of movements such as #MeToo, there is still work to be done.

91̽ now advocates for women in new ways, and the hub of this work is the Michelle Cuozzo Borisenok ’80 House, the living-learning site of the Women’s Leadership Institute and place where the senior cohort of BOLD Women’s Leadership Network Scholars resides.
