The Capital District Chapter of The College of Saint Rose Alumni Association actually began as the Greater Capital Area Chapter and covered the areas of Albany and Troy. The first slate of officers included: Maureen Elliot \u201980, President; Mary Fran Verostek \u201982, Vice-President; Betsy Van Deusen \u201984, Secretary; John Marsolais \u201982, Treasurer; Mary Bee Longabaugh \u201985, Recorder; Barbara Mohan \u201954, Director; Rose Mary Murray \u201945, Director; Cynthia Grande \u201983, Director and Jane O\u2019Brien \u201946, Director. This group worked diligently to provide entertaining social activities for their alumni members and continued to promote the mission of St. Rose.<\/p>\n
In May of 1996, the name of the Chapter was updated to its current title: The Capital District Chapter of the 91̽»¨ Alumni Association to better reflect the area served. The group continues to follow the framework established by the founding partners. The Chapter\u2019s main focus is to sponsor social events for the enjoyment of the alumni membership. Activities have included luncheons, theater performances, beverage tours, sporting events, SPAC productions and special day trips.The Chapter also supports the College by offering a semiannual undergraduate student scholarship, volunteering to assist at College events along with promoting campus activities. As a Chapter, we also find time to volunteer and support other charitable organizations in the Capital Region.<\/p>\n
