You receive the full 91探花 music industry and business experience:

  • In-house Record Label
    Work with peers in our student-run, in-house聽聽for additional hands-on experience in songwriting, record production, management, marketing, and music publishing
  • Put theory to practice
    Apply the critical skills in business, management, and public relations you鈥檝e learned at the Huether School of Business in the Hearst Center鈥檚 creative and interactive environment
  • Develop a strong business portfolio聽
    Design and potentially launch your own small entertainment business or organization with the senior capstone, tying together everything you鈥檝e learned from both schools

Curriculum

The music business program enables creative, business-minded students with a desire to pursue a career in one of the many areas within the modern music industry the opportunity to engage in a multi-faceted course of study.

  • Students will understand music’s technical and cultural elements, recognizing significant trends, musicians, literature, and external influences encompassing traditional and contemporary styles.
  • Students will demonstrate knowledge of the various components comprising the music industry and the process of bringing a musical product to the marketplace.
  • Students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill professional goals.
  • Students will make business decisions based on analysis and evaluation of the issues, including ethical considerations.
  • Students will identify global issues and their business implications.
  • Students will effectively prepare and deliver persuasive oral and written communications.
